Valentine's Day 2017 Meeting

We met at Eric Quilt Art - Gail and Lee are great hosts.  And we had a fabulous guest - Ana Buzzalino.  There is lots of information about Ana on the Google Machine - for example, a short interview here.  (Charmaine also included a lot of detail about Ana in the meeting notes.  I'm not going to repeat it here so take a look at the notes.)  Ana spent quite a bit of time showing us her stunning quilts and telling us all about them.  I think it's safe for me to say we all were enraptured and inspired by her presentation.

Above and below began as quilts made with a variety of  white/off white fabrics that were dyed blue and this is how they turned out.  Really cool!  Terry rushed home and started experimenting with this technique the same day!

Ana painted the tulips.

And she painted the above and the two below.

She likes to experiment and apparently these are some "experiments" - would all my "experiments" turn out so well!

Ana uses so many surface design techniques!

Once Ana was finished, it was on to our own show and tell.  Ana is a pretty hard act to follow, but we had a few brave souls.

Above - Chris T's appliqued quilt - for her daughter's wedding.

Phil is a pattern tester for Sew Kind of Wonderful's Urbanologie (book below) - above is one of the blocks.

Karen's Ninja Turtle quilt for her grandson.  Those of us with 30 something boys agreed that our sons would also jump on this quilt!

Karen had another quilt (Above) - also a Sew Kind Of Wonderful quilt.

Wanda showed her Hunter Star quilt all ready for Heritage Park.

Heather is one prolific quilter!  She's always got one or two new things to show off her quilting adventures.

Colleen - Cat in the Hat!

Jane - two fabric bargello front above, back below.

Sandy showing a "special" Quilts of Valour quilt.

And here is Terry with one of her latest creations - a block for an exchange - Canada 150 Northern Lights.

Charmaine with her Hunter Star - another one for our Heritage Park group submission.

And Charmaine's elephant (Violet Craft paper pieced pattern) - this lady has been busy!!!

Sharon with her Hunter Star top looking for a few quilting ideas.  I think she got some!
