Sep 12, 2017 Meeting at Chinook Country Quilt Shop

Chinook Fabrics has a new owner and a new name: Chinook Country Quilt Shop.  We enjoyed meeting the new owner, Jill.  She was a wonderful hostess!  And of course we all took advantage of her "specials".  And she provided a door prize, which Janet won, something we all felt was appropriate as Janet does so much for the group.  Thanks so much Jill!

Once again, I recommend members to refer to Charmaine's excellent notes for the details of the meeting.  I seem to be endlessly busy so rewriting them here seems redundant.  Here are the pix of the meeting with a few pithy comments, simply because I can!  😉

First up - random pix of everyone getting settled in for the meeting.  It was a bit squishy, but we managed.  Squishy is a good thing - that means there are many of us and we find the meetings worth our time.

Here is Janet (left), introducing Jill (right), the new store owner.

Jill and Terry (above)

Karen's Gypsy Wife - I love the colours she used!

New member, Teri (above - a bit out of focus - I don't usually put out of focus pix in...)

Charmaine

Also Charmaine's quilt - Northern Neighbours - a Deb Tucker design

Above - Charmaine's Hourglass (Toby Lischko design) - she asked for quilting ideas

Lee's Animal Charm Square baby quilt

I think the below quilt is Lee's as well....

Two friends - Patti and Jean - and their Dalmead Guild Challenge quilts.  The challenge was to use uncoordinated scraps and was a mystery block of the month - the above and below quilts are the results.

Joan showed this collage dress form.

Joan again - above she is explaining something very important!  Below a Polka Dot quilt by Candy Kisses.

And another Joan quilt - below- for which she wanted some quilting ideas.

Sharon showed us this quilt - she was experimenting with quilting - put a different motif in each of the bluish blocks.  I tried to get a close up - not sure it worked.  Left click on the pix for a closer look.

And here is Terry.  Above with her latest collage - she has become the Collage Queen and we bow before her!  🙌😀

Below - a quilt for her granddaughter.

Terry with a custom quilted quilt she recently finished.

Vanecea, above, with another of her amazing art quilts.  As a note: she received permission to use the design.

Phillipa showed us her recent creation.  She quilted it using 12 weight thread, which doesn't show up in the pix, but I've seen this quilt in person a few times and the heavier thread is very effective.

Below - back of above quilt - Ikea fabric.

Above - Tanya modelling her "I fell into the 60's" themed pillow, which she entered into the Millarville Fair.

Below - Darcy with her Canadian wildflower quilt - provincial flowers machine embroidered.

She also did this football player.

And this very cute car quilt - each car with a special meaning to someone in her family.

And a Penguin bag - penguin print - not to carry penguins in - I don't think that's a good idea! 😀

Here is Kim with a Potion Quilt.

And her One World Quilt Along.

And another one...  check out her quilt alongs and other things on her Chatterbox Quilts blog.  She has some fun stuff and interesting videos, etc.

Alison showed us this product that she tried and likes.

Chris - hand appliqued hearts - apparently started 12 years ago.  It's good to get things finished!

Wendy's quilt.

Also Wendy's.

Last but definitely not least - our fearless leader, Janet's Maple Leaf Quilt, which is going to Quilts of Valour.
